Something Amelia Said At Church Today...and My Sunday

It was really precious to see Amelia telling her daddy, "Daddy I have a secret to tell you..." Then as he leans down to hear Amelia pulls his ear and starts to say, "The water is for Jesus' body to help his blood..." haha! I started silently giggling cause it was just so cute! We corrected her, but I love that she knows that during sacrament that we partake of the bread & water to remember Jesus.

I got to go to relief society today because they had a visiting teaching lesson & they wanted all sisters to attend. I wanted to share so many of my stories while listening to the person speak that a few times I almost stood up haha! The visiting teacher that helped me the most was one in UT and here is my story:

Chris worked nights and would get home at 3 AM (worked at Dominoes Pizza delivering). We moved every year that we were married and our church times were ALWAYS 9:00 or 8:30! It never failed! Well Ben was about 16-17 months old, at that age of right before nursery..., I had a hard time taking him to church by myself! He always ran around relief society and I always felt like people would look at me like...Watch your kid!! Because I couldn't hold him on my lap he just wouldn't sit there. So I let the little evil voices, as my bishop now would call them..., and I started to just stay home. A month later my visiting teacher came over to see how I was doing and I let her know it was just too hard to go to church on my own with a child! She let me know I can sit by her & her family and that she would help me with him in relief society. I never missed a Sunday since! And I am not the type to just leave the church...I needed help and she was there for me!

And my experiences visiting teaching had brought me many friends that I hold dear in my heart! I even had people I visited let me know they liked having c-sections over natural child birth anytime...and so when I had my 1st baby and the doctor said, "Hey how do you feel about a c-section" I said, "let's do it." I had no fear because I had those people tell me it was ok. (and the doctor asked me this after 12 hours of labor pains and my water breaking!! I was SO ready for that baby to come out! haha)

I have had inactive church goers be GREAT visiting teaching companions (well they went when I called them...), but still they went.

And I had an experience when I was in the singles ward, and new at visiting teaching, with an inactive sister that would never return my calls or even be home when we did set up a time. It was a bit frustrating. One activity we did for homemaking was made easter baskets and I made enough for the people I visit taught. I loaded them up with goodies a note and a big stuffed bunny (I was loaded at the time haha). And I took one to this inactive girl. Never had talked to her before...she of course wasn't home, but her dad said he would let her know I stopped by. I left the basket with him. The next day I got a phone call and it was her. We had a good chat and it was just nice to have her acknowledge me & my efforts. She didn't come back to church (at least that I know of...not while I was there), but she did thank me.

I wanted to tell the sisters in my ward today to not have fear of those people that are "inactive". I was there once and I am not someone that has forgotten my testimony or that hates the church. Quite the opposite. I just needed someone to help me and I let the evil spirits talk me out of going.

I did tell Chris when his current job worked him on Sundays that he needed to get Sundays off because when I have this 3rd child I am not going to handle all 3 kids by myself at church! He got Sundays off & it has been such a blessing! I love having him home on Sundays not just for the support at church, but he is an amazing lunch maker on Sundays ;o) It's great to have our family together for at least 1 day a week!
