I got the phone call from the doctor's office today and the nurse told me that my blood sugar was too high. She said I now need to come in for a 3 hour glucose test and I will have my blood drawn 4 times! GREAT! She also informed me that I am low in iron...REALLY low. That will explain my tiredness! If anyone has any suggestions on how to eat while pregnant & what to buy at the store to eat I need help! I look in my cupboards and I don't feel hungry! Nothing but sugar products appeal to me...yeah it's bad! I hate water, which I know is bad...
I think hmmm what should I eat for lunches? I end up eating very little. I am just not very hungry. Benjamin will eat 2 burritos and I can only eat 1! Shouldn't I be eating at least 2? We went to Carl's Jr last night and I didn't want anything I just got a soda. I crashed on the couch about 10:30...I used to stay up so late & have so much energy and I just feel drained! I am hoping the doctor's office will give me suggestions and help me figure out what I should be doing to eat right! I have had 2 kids before I didn't have this problem with them...

Your doctors office probably give you an iron suppliment. I was low on iron during both my pregnancies. You usually can't get caught up because you usually use so much but they don't want you to get lower. Hopefully you can improve though with diet and supplement. I ate a lot of Cream of wheat and brocolli. I can't remember what else. Your doctor will give you ideas. I hope you pass the second glucose test. Good luck!
The 3 hour test is miserable. The sugar drink is even worse than the first and with the fasting before it makes you really shaky and then really tired, and I got a bit sick to my stomach. I would find out if they have a couch or place to lay down, and definitely bring a blank, and a good book, and maybe some food for after, because I did actually sleep a while to get my stomach to stop arguing with me, and the book distracted me for the 3 boring hours. Just FYI. But quite often the 2nd test usually has a negative result so you have a good chance that you still are okay. But take care of yourself!
Have you tried flavored water? Cream of Wheat is awesome -- you can add a ton of brown sugar and a little butter, or sugar and some frozen blueberries, ... or honey and a few walnuts. Nuts are a good snack.
