Ok so I took that job at the phone book company & I have been temping. They had me making phone calls to people in the surrounding cities to see if they got their phone books & it wasn't that bad. They do that cause the people that do the deliveries are from every walk of life & I guess they had a football team just chuck the books in a shed & they got paid for delivering them when the books didn't get delivered. Yeah sad!
What is so fun about this place is lunch time! I really enjoy it & it feels like girls day out everyday LOL! There are like 6 of us that sit there & just BS & have a good time. I have meet some cool people & I think they think I am cool too...(did you notice they THINK I am cool...little do they know LOL jk). Anyway my friend works there (I went to High School with her like 11 years ago) and it has been great being able to see her & it was like we never lost touch. It is so fun! She is hillarious & has really made me feel comfortable at this place.
So the front desk position was available & I have been able to help out for an hour for 3 days in the morning...and then back to the phone calls. Then I offered to help when I heard the front desk girl was having a break down (someone came to find me in the lunch room & said it would give me big points with this girl...) And so I went up & offered my assistance. She thanked me & gave me a task I absolutely LOVED! All I had to do is go through the data base & make sure the city was showing on certain lines of the phone book (in the computer). And I got done with it in 4 hours. Then the next day they had me go through & make sure that these #'s were properly coded & then also make sure the free listings that companies add to the phone book (that is whatever company that doesn't care to advertise with pictures & yellow highlight etc...only the free ones. Anyway I had to make sure that there were no duplicates. Yeah I messed up on a couple & WOW haha. I changed an address on one cause I saw the company in there 5 times & the contract showed a different address & so I called the company & just asked what their address was & it wasn't right on the contract. The person who trained me told me NEVER to touch the contracts & opps ;os I did. So then I called the art director & I told her the situation & she really praised me that I caught the error the sales rep made in the address. Then she asked me if I needed a job & I told her yeah that I was gonna work until my hubby found something & she told me I would be great there. I had another person tell me that the same day (the one bringing all of these coding & duplicate # jobs to me.) So that was cool. Well then the art director comes back & in kind of a stern voice asked if I was testing her & she asked why I deleted a contract. I remembered that one cause I thought that ninth looked better than 9th and so I deleted the contract on accident! opps! I was also told by the guy who showed me what to do that they would be able to do a run on the data to see if that happened & correct it in the end so I didn't worry TOO much, but still I was a bit stressed at 1st ;o) (a good stress)....then later she came to me & showed me that I added a phone # to a contract and I was like opps! And I totally admitted to it & apologized & she made it sound like it was no big deal. She seems like she could be a tough one, but she was pretty cool with me being an idiot LOL! She told me no need to apologize. Then she complained about how the data system's company hasn't listened to her when it comes to the contract stuff because she wants it so no one can change contracts but the people that are assigned to them...(and I totally agreed with her on that) and anyway I just let her vent haha. She was so cool. She also changed my screen so the contracts showed in green & that helped me tremendously! Anywho I also told the front desk girl that I LOVED data entry & filing & just busy work...she said she did too. I think we will get along just fine haha ;o). I asked the front desk guy (so there are 2 people doing the front desk....) if they needed me to come in early on Monday & he said, "Come in whenever you want you are going to be up here all day from now on." I was like WHAT? AWESOME! haha He is going to be a sales support person or assistant to a sales rep & so his job was the one that is open at the front desk. So him telling me that was so cool! The boss didn't tell me, but whatever I will be up there unless otherwise told LOL. So I think I am still temping, but we will see. I actually think I heard the boss guy say that I was going to be up there & that I would be temping, but I am not sure because maybe he wasn't talking about me at all? I am like 3 cubies down from the front desk with headphones on LOL.
Ok so I have really enjoyed this week & I love working. And my kids give me hugs & kisses when I get home....I love it (and they occasionally call & text me, with the help on my hubby, and send their love awwww)! And I don't seem to lose my temper as much with the kids when I am home...so it's really good. I find when I am on the phones at work I am not impatient & I think it's because my kids have taught me so much about not being that way... ;o)
