Ben has another head wound...

We went to play group today & the kids were having a great time singing & playing with clay! As the kids went upstairs to play us adults were able to hang out and relax...well then Ben came running to me crying & saying he got hit in the head. He took his hand off and his head was all bloody!!! My 1st reaction was to freak out and my 1st thought was....I hope he doesn't need stitches!! I was actually really calm about it... We rushed him over to the kitchen sink and they got me a paper towel with water on it and I held his head with it. It stopped bleeding really quickly and he also had a little cut on his eyebrow. He said one of the kids hit him in the head with a toy (he showed me the toy later and it was a part of a wooden dollhouse with wooden furniture...SO CUTE and yet so dangerous haha). The mom of the boy that hit Ben made the boy tell Ben sorry and she felt horrible! I told her it was ok & that he will be fine. Man this year I am being thrown into how it is to be a mom with a boy...! Ben said to me, "Let's go home now I want to go home now!! It's safe at home I don't get hit at home!" I told him we were going to go to the park for free lunch & he didn't want to and wanted to sit in the car to eat and I told him no and that we could sit on the grass by the car...When we got there the person in charge of the lunches told us we couldn't sit by our car that we had to stay in the designated area...so Ben sucked it up and we sat on the grass by the playground. I told the guy that Ben had gotten hit in the head at playgroup and was leary about being around kids...the guy was like, "ahhhh." As we sat eating Ben got less worried and even went to play with the kids on the playground. YAY! I am glad he got over it!

(Amelia sitting by herself at the park ;o) I thought she went to play and I saw this...)

Ben after going to talk to his sister Amelia ;o) He was a bit grumpy today...Emmaline at the park and Amelia in the background...

When I was telling the boy's mom that it was ok I could sense Ben getting angry with me. So when we had gotten into the car to go to the park I explained to him that it will be ok and that it's a part of being a boy...you get hurt more because you play more. I told him I understood that he hurt and that that wasn't ok, but I told him it will get better so it is ok. He seemed to calm down and wasn't as angry with me after that. I think kids get mad at us parents because we tend to wave & shake things off easily when they are really hurt by what happened. So I let him know I understood his feelings.
