Ben Got Bit By A Dog 04-30-10

Chris got these pics right after Ben was sewed up...my phone didn't save the pics I took before. :o( Maybe it wasn't meant to be to get the before pics!

Last night Ben was bit on the face by a dog. Total accident! Everything is going to be covered and he is AMAZING! He got dissolvable stitches and the nurse said he was lucky! It was a bite on his upper lip in 2 spots. I thought his upper and lower lip were bit, but when they stitched him up I realized the left cut was his upper lip. I know we were being watched over by God for sure!! And I really appreciate everyone helping us get to the emergency and for staying with me! Allison, Emily, and Kathy stayed until we went home. Ben is doing good and we still went to the Lowe's activity today! Ben said, "No one even looked at me!" He was a little worried people would stare. Only had the register lady say something and it was ok!

It was a little yapper dog and Ben had been playing ball with it for about 2 hours and all was well...I think the dog went for the ball and caught Ben's face! Kathy said they would pay for everything! I am thankful to them for that because we don't have insurance! Ben has been doing well and getting better at eating...he didn't want to eat or drink anything today and he is finally drinking from straws and eating lunch meat...he is trying to get used to it. He's so amazing to me! And Chris & I asked if he still liked dogs and he said yes, but told me "Mommy NO MORE PARTIES!" I was at a purse/jewelry party...Kathy & Emily had it for their birthday party. I was ringing up my stuff and that is when Kathy's kids & Ben came in and it was all just a blur! And I thought do I need to take him in (even though I knew I did!! My brain doesn't work well right now...2 1/2 more weeks until I have my baby...) And the lady that was selling the stuff came over and said she was a dental hygienist and saw the gashes in his lip and said immediately, "Yes he needs to go in!" I took pictures when he finally got knocked out and my crazy phone didn't save them!!! I was so mad! Chris got after pics (see above). I thought it was his upper and lower lip, but one of the chunks was hanging to look like his lower lip...it was crazy scary for me! I have officially entered mommahood! 1st stitches! The hardest part for me was the doctor telling me the complications of having Ben stay awake while they sewed or being put to sleep...Staying awake meant having to hold him down while they worked on his face and putting to sleep some of the drugs can knock him out so much that he might turn blue and stop breathing...and after having that happen to me during back surgery really worried me! But I went with the asleep and glad we did because I think the doctor had a better chance of getting everything perfectly back into place! Ben looks great! Yeah it's scraped up, but his lips lined up like there were no holes at all! Doc told us he will have a bump for possibly a year, and if things don't come together right then plastic surgery, but I don't think it's that bad...I think it will heal well! Ben told me no more parties...he says he still likes dogs...Kathy is the sweetest person and when I saw her at the emergency room waiting her eyes were pink like she had been crying! I was sad her party (it was a joint birthday party...) had to end like that :o(...she is going to take care of everything & I am not blaming her at all and I hope she knows I don't hate her! It was a complete accident!

Ben got this bear from the hospital and he loves it! It's so cuddly! He wants to write a thank you note to the doctor & nurses for helping him. He is such a sweet spirit!!
