Chris came to me a day after she was born with a baby name book and we chose Emmaline. The day after that my sister & I were talking and she mentioned using Chris' name in girl form like Christine and I said no that's the babysitter's name ;o). And then she asked Chris' middle name and I said Donald and I told her that was his dad's name. Chris' dad goes by Don and so we thought it would be cool to do Dawn as her middle name. And since she was born in the early morning Dawn works out well ;o). So Emmaline Dawn is her name! She is the best baby!! I had prayed for a snuggler and that's what I got! I kept updating people on Facebook and I think what I will do here is do the daily update by copying & pasting those status' here:
Birdeena Bakly Fleck So much for waiting until the 19th of May for a scheduled c-section!!! My water broke 9:50 PM Friday 5-7-10! Delivered emergency c-section 5-8-10 and am at the hospital recovering! The babe is in the NICU for sugar issues...or lack of orange soda...just sayin' my co-workers know what I mean by that ha!

Oh and don't discount that your hormones are making this so much harder then it would normally be - you are strong but your body has gone through major stress! My little guy was born at 35 weeks and had a little fluid in his lungs, so ended up in nicu on an iv, then to wean off the iv, then with jaundice - he was this 8 lb bruiser next to all the ... See Moretiny preemies. I was so sad especially the first day when I realized he wasn't coming to my room and then 2 days later when I realized he wasn't coming home with me right away. Looking back, it was a blink in time and I am so glad that he had nurses and doctors who took such good care of him! Hang in there, and good for you to get lots of pictures in the nicu- that is part of her story and she will be interested when she is older.

Birdeena Bakly Fleck So I will need a place to stay with a shuttle so I can get back and forth to the baby...the hospital is running out of space :o( Thinking of the Ronald McDonald House...Emmaline's jaundice has worsened...found out the Billy Blanket they had on her was only covering an inch of her body...it wasn't wrapped right UGH! So she is under lights today...

Bummer Noah had the light therapy for 8 days sucks cause you can't hold them like you would want but it does work. Good luck hope you don't have to get trasfusions.

That really stinks! The lights are a big help but you feeding her as often as possible is really good too. Just make sure her eyes are totally covered. Wish I lived closer to help you out. Let me know if you need anything. How are the kids holding up??

Birdeena Bakly Fleck While I was feeding Emmaline the doctor requested her paperwork...comes back 10 min later and tells the nurse (I was behind a curtain...) "I am going to let them go home today...I want to do an ultrasound 1st..." I almost cried, but thought to myself that I can't be sure they are talking about us...then the nurse over... Emmaline today told me, "You have a car seat? Because you may be going home today..."

Birdeena Bakly Fleck WE ARE HOME!!! Ben said, "There are FIVE people in our family now!!" The next few months are going to be crazy busy and no rest for the weary that's for sure. Emmaline still has to go in to get her billy checked and also has to get ultrasounds quite a bit. Genetic testing will come back in week & if she has the synd...rom the doc said she could get a tumor by the age 2 or 3 said any time but mostly older kids :o(

I actually like this job :o) But the problem was I was pumping after every feeding in the hospital (realized the last day I didn't need to be pumping that much and a nurse asked why I was pumping so much and I think I was on auto pilot...) so the last few days I have stopped pumping and yeah...HURT!!

Birdeena Bakly Fleck Well Emmaline still hasn't gained "enough weight" so the doc has me pumping after each feeding to give Emmaline 1 oz after each feeding. I hope I don't have to do it for long...and they say to feed her every 2-3 hours, but not to wake her until it's been 3 hours...It's tough waking a baby! I do all the things to wake... her, but she falls asleep easily. And she HATES baths! I have my post op appt tomorrow.

Yikes! So tough! I had to wake mine with a wet, cold wash cloth and strip him down to wake him up! He had jaunice really bad. He was like an oompa loompa(? spelling?) off of Willy Wonka! He would scream and get so mad and thats when I'd feed him. He would stay awake long enough tofeed well. I hope it gets easier!

Birdeena Bakly Fleck Emmaline has passed her birth weight!!! YAY And my doctor also told me that before when we told her we were both short because our family is short she wanted to get genetic testing on Amelia done (when she was a baby...) and she said when she saw my mother-in-law last week she finally believed us! I said, "See I told... you!" My mother-in-law is 4'10" or 11. I am glad Sherry came to take care of the kids that once!

omg thats funny we had the same thing going, our doctor was worried owen was really short until he saw mine and owens dads parents. seans parents are barely 5 feet if that and my mom is 5 ft 4 like me lol owen will be a short man

That is the update for now...I know long, but all the people that commented and gave me support meant SO MUCH to me! It really got me through...and some of the comments made helped me feel so much love that I cried often! I was overwhelmed with all the love!
