The bishopric approved my friend's, Sharon Hopkins, song, "I Will Pray", for me to sing in Sacrament! I was very excited because the range on this song is totally my level! I practiced with Emily Bradshaw...her & her husband both play the piano very well and they are in music callings. I like this couple a lot and I hope we can become really good friends! I already feel like we are friends ;o)! When I got to church on Sunday though Emily told me that her & her kids were sick so they were going to see if Tony (her husband) could play for me. He only played it a couple of times and he did really well. So I practiced a couple of times with the mic at church and felt good...I cried on the last verse and said that I hope I don't do that in the actual meeting!! ugh! Emily had gone out into the hall and she said when my voice came over the speaker it sounded like a recording it was that good. Awww! When it was my turn to sing I felt ok. I wasn't too nervous. I felt I did a good job and I DIDN'T CRY!! YAY! I had a lot of people come up to me to tell me I did a great job! More than I am used to. I really like this ward people are nice! I had gone to the library to prepare for my singing time in Primary and this lady (forgot her name!!!) said her husband leaned over to her and asked if I was in their ward...she said I did a good job. I told her I have been in the ward since November, but was in the primary...I got hid in the primary right away so people probably don't know who I am...but they do now! YAY! Our home teacher (I didn't know he was, but Chris told me later he was...) came up to me and
told me that compared to other singers they don't have anything on me...awww! In primary one of the ladies asked if she could have a copy of the song and I told her she could buy it online...
Tony told me on Facebook that someone said, "I've had some voice training, so I am usually [critical] even if I don't mean to be, and after listening to her sing I can't say anything wrong." SO, great job!!!
I know what she means because I have had voice training too and I can silently be critical & I usually think...well at least they are trying haha! I don't mean to be like that!
Tony put on his Facebook status:
"Played accompaniment for a soloist for the first time today. I messed up twice, but she was awesome!"
I told him: "You did not mess up!"
Amy in my ward replied to this status also & put: "That was your first time? Are you kidding?? It was awesome and Birdeena!! You have such a beautiful voice!! Sing again! Sing again!"
I think it really helps having a nice piece of music to work with & sing! It's not just the singer putting it out there ;o)
So here is what you all have been waiting for...the link to the song so you can listen to it! I LOVE IT! The 1st time I heard it I cried and it really hit home. Amazing song! And it went really well with the topic on Sunday: Prayer & Personal Revelation.
