There Is A Green Hill Far Away....

So we like to sing before we read scriptures and the kids like to hold up the scripture pictures when we sing. Ben found the picture of Jesus on the cross and he says, "Sing the Jesus died song mommy!" So I will sing, "There is a green hill far away without a city wall...where the dear Lord was crucified who died to save us all..." And I try to do the other verses without using my hymn book and I think I mess up the words a little...:os Anyway the kids get these somber faces and know it's a song of reverance and sadness (yet happiness). And so I have sang that one only a few times at home...well yesterday in church that song was chosen for the sacrament hymn...and I told my kids, "Hey it's the Jesus died song!" And Amelia sang it! And the rest of the day she sang it!! I mean there were a few words here & there that she misses, but amazing!

AND she has the 1st article of faith memorized!! And again there may be a few things she missed or adds in, but for the most part she has it down! She is learning the articles of faith because I was told by the primary president that Benjamin needs to know them...I thought that was a huge request for a 4 year old...BUT Amelia is proving that they can memorize at that age & younger...! I think Ben has it too, but he gets frustrated.

Oh and during the sacrament and when we let the kids partake of the bread & water I ask them what the bread & water represent...Ben used to say, "Jesus Body!" And now he says, "I eat Jesus' body so he can live inside of me..." He kind of gets it LOL! And Amelia says, "Jesus' body..." And for the water I tell them it represents Jesus' blood and how it was shed for us... I think there was a Sunday lesson one Sunday that someone mentioned how kids shouldn't take the sacrament & I believe the teacher said that the leaders said it is good to get the kids in the habit of it...and I thought it was a good time to teach them while they partook so I started to tell them that simple part. I don't know where Ben got the live inside me thing, but he is kind of right...we partake of the sacrament so we can remember Christ and to renew our covenants which is to learn to be like Christ...So he kind of gets it ;o)

I love that you write down so many things your kids say and do--those things seem to evaporate out of our minds so quickly!
